Mike Di Placido is a poet based in North Yorkshire. An ex-professional footballer and England Youth International, Mike ‘peddled his soccer wares’ across the globe, from York City to Australia and New Zealand, before turning to a life of literature – taking an MA in Poetry while working as a house-husband.
His debut pamphlet of poetry, Theatre of Dreams, was published by Smith/Doorstop in 2009, taking its title from his magical trial with Manchester United in the early seventies. He now lives in Seamer, near Scarborough, with his wife and two daughters.
The town of Scarborough became Mike's inspiration for his first full collection, A Sixty-Watt Las Vegas, published by Valley Press in September 2013.
